Syria Warns Of ‘Dangerous Repercussions’ Following Reports Of Israeli Strike On Chemical Weapon Plant

—VIA BREITBART

TEL AVIV – Israeli warplanes struck targets in central Syria overnight that are believed to be holding chemical weapons, reports in Arab media said Thursday morning. The strike drew a backlash from the Assad regime, which warned Israel of “dangerous repercussions of this aggressive action.”

According to several reports, the strike happened at 2:30am at a Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center (CERS) facility near Masyaf in the area of Hama. The center is used to develop missiles as well as chemical weapons. Three people died in the strike, according to the reports.

The Syrian army accused Israel on Thursday morning of killing two of its soldiers during the strike.

The army issued a statement threatening Israel with “dangerous repercussions of this aggressive action to the security and stability of the region.”

The Israeli Air Force also targeted a number of weapons convoys bound for the Hezbollah terror group, the reports said.

Lebanese reports emerged that stated Israeli warplanes were circling Lebanese skies at 4am.

The reports have not been confirmed by the IDF.

In April, the Trump administration placed sanctions on employees of CERS in the aftermath of a chemical attack on the city of Khan Sheikhoun, a Syrian rebel stronghold, that killed more than 80 civilians, including children.

On Wednesday, the UN war crimes commission released a report confirming that the Assad regime had indeed used chemical weapons, including sarin gas, to attack its own people.

The alleged IAF strikes come amid rising tensions between Israel, the U.S., and Russia regarding Iran’s expanding military presence in Lebanon and Syria, partly through its terrorist proxy Hezbollah.

Gen. (res.) Gadi Shamni on Thursday warned that Israel “must do everything to prevent Iran from getting a better stronghold than that which it already has on Syria.”

He also told Army Radio that while he “assumes there’s a level of cooperation with the Americans following such an attack or beforehand, we don’t have to ask for their approval.”

Maj. Amos Yadlin, a former director of military intelligence and current head of Tel Aviv University’s Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), called Wednesday’s strike “commendable.”

“The factory in the attack also produces chemical weapons and barrels of explosives that killed thousands of Syrian citizens. If the attack was conducted by Israel, it would be a commendable and moral action by Israel against the slaughter in Syria,” he tweeted.

“The attack sent 3 important messages: Israel won’t allow for empowerment and production of strategic arms. Israel intends to enforce its red lines despite the fact that the great powers are ignoring them. The presence of Russian air defense does not prevent airstrikes attributed to Israel.

“Now it’s important to keep the escalation in check and to prepare for a Syrian-Iranian-Hezbollah response and even opposition from Russia.”

Israel has been maintaining a policy of neutrality regarding Syria’s civil war but has been vocal about striking regime targets in the event of cross-border spillover fighting.

The Jewish state has also struck Hezbollah-bound weapons convoys.

North Korea rules out negotiations on nuclear weapons

From Reuters

North Korea on Friday ruled out negotiations with Washington as long as joint U.S-South Korea military exercises continue, and said that Pyongyang’s atomic weapons program would remain as a deterrent against a U.S. nuclear threat.

In an interview with Reuters, Han Tae Song, North Korea’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, brushed off the new sanctions which the Trump administration has said it is preparing, as well as the possibility of North Korea being added to a U.S. list of states sponsoring terrorism.

South Korea and the United States agreed on Friday to keep working for a peaceful end to the North Korean nuclear crisis, but a U.S. envoy said it was difficult to gauge the reclusive North’s intentions as there has been “no signal”.

Han, asked about those bilateral talks in Seoul, replied: “As long as there is continuous hostile policy against my country by the U.S. and as long as there are continued war games at our doorstep, then there will not be negotiations.”

“There are continued military exercises using nuclear assets as well as aircraft carriers, and strategic bombers and then…raising such kinds of military exercises against my country,” he said.

He, who is ambassador to the U.N.’s Conference on Disarmament, was speaking at the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) mission in Geneva, where the DPRK and the United States secured a 1994 nuclear deal which later fell apart.

“The DPRK, my country, will continue to build-up its self-defense capability, the pivot of which is nuclear forces and capability for a triumphant…strike as long as U.S. and hostile forces keep up nuclear threat and blackmail,” Han said.

“Our country plans ultimate completion of the nuclear force,” he said.

‘NUCLEAR DETERRENT’

China said on Thursday that a “dual suspension” proposal to handle North Korea was still the best option, after U.S. President Donald Trump said he and Chinese President Xi Jinping had rejected a “freeze for freeze” agreement.

Han, asked about China’s latest appeal for a freeze, said “the situation is far from those things”.

Han said that U.S. administrations had “never accepted” halting joint military exercises, adding: “So if they accept such things, then we will think what we do in the future.”

North Korea could not consider abandoning its nuclear program, he said, adding: “This is the deterrent, the nuclear deterrent to cope with the nuclear threat from America.”

Han said that Trump was expected to announce further sanctions against North Korea. Existing sanctions have constituted “large-scale human rights violations” that had delayed delivery of aid and consumer goods, he said.

“It is obvious that the aim of the sanctions is to overthrow the system of my country by isolating and stifling it and to intentionally bring about humanitarian disaster instead of preventing weapons development as claimed by the U.S. and its followers,” he said.

Han, asked whether new U.S. sanctions were expected against North Korean individuals or financial structures, said:

”The media is saying the Americans and Trump are considering such things.

”But that is their business and then we don’t mind what they want to do against my country since the aim is quite clear.

“So we are ready for such kinds of measures taken by America against my country,” he said.

Oops! Russia’s $100K Facebook Ad-Buy was ANTI-Trump

For the first time, lawmakers have released the Facebook ads purchased by Russian entities. Unsurprisingly, the ads were anti-Trump. Facebooks release of the Russian ads raises questions about the intelligence community’s assessment that Russia aimed to help President Trump get elected.

The ads range from messages supporting Black Lives Matter to ads saying that Trump is “Not My President”.

While some of the ads racked up just a few hundred views, others were seen close to a million times.

Ads targeting Hillary supporting Muslim demographics were among the most provocative.

One ad targeting LGBT voters appeared to support the Campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders (D).

Many of the ads supported the Black Lives Matter movement. While some of the Black Live Matter ads were vague, others promoted specific events, referring to them as “Blactivist”.

Bob Corker Tries to Snatch the Nuclear Codes from President Trump

On Tuesday the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing to discuss the President’s ability to launch a Nuclear Attack with almost no oversight and without approval from Congress. This is the first time in over four decades that the committee has discussed this matter and was spearheaded by Senator Bob Corker, a Republican Senator who has an ongoing feud with the President after being turned down from serving as Secretary of State.

The longstanding precedent of Presidents being able to launch an unrestricted nuclear strike comes from the idea that the US must be able to provide a credible deterrent to other nuclear-armed nations. This precedent dates back to the start of the Cold War, during the Eisenhower Administration.

A Russian or Chinese nuclear ICBM could reach the United States in about 6 minutes. A preemptive strike from Russia or China would likely hit US Missle Silos, leading to an almost immediate loss of capability to retaliate with land-based missiles.

If awaken in the middle of the night, and told that Kim Jong Un has launched a nuclear ICBM towards Los Angeles, President Trump would have just minutes to respond. Installing a bureaucracy around nuclear retaliation would place the United States at an inarguable strategic disadvantage.

The President just finished a successful foreign trip and nothing about his policies or behavior throughout his trip should suggest that his policies are done on a whim, quite the contrary in fact. The entire trip was a success at putting America First while still building major relationships with foreign leaders.

Past administrations have struggled and thought the only way to maintain a good relationship was by giving diplomatic concessions without demanding anything in return. President Trump has shown that leading with strength works. This begs the question: why does Senator Bob Corker, along with his fellow Democrats feel that the President is unhinged and unfit to make a clear decision about launching a nuclear strike?

The only logical answer is that these Senators have contempt for the President, whether it’s because they were not offered top jobs in this administration or because their candidate had a stunning defeat last November. Be that as it may, they are looking to undermine President Trump at every turn, even if it puts our national security at risk.
